Storage unit sizes in Kokomo, IN range from small closet-style spaces for boxes to large units that hold a full household, and the right choice depends on what you own and how long you will store it. Touby Pike Storage offers storage for both short-term and long-term needs.
Most facilities offer a similar range of common sizes, and it helps to think in square feet. A 5x5 offers about 25 square feet, a 5x10 about 50, a 10x10 about 100, a 10x15 about 150, and a 10x20 about 200. Units are typically about 8 feet tall, so you can stack boxes well above waist height and use the space efficiently.
Availability changes, so confirm current sizes before you decide.
A 5x5 is similar to a large closet. It suits boxes, seasonal decorations, small furniture, and a few totes of clothing, which makes it a good choice for students or anyone clearing out a spare room.
A 5x10 gives you more depth. It can hold a mattress set, a small sofa or a few chairs, a desk, and a stack of boxes. If you are unsure between a 5x5 and a 5x10, the larger one is usually the safer choice, because a little extra room makes packing easier.
A 10x10 is one of the most popular sizes. It typically holds the contents of a one-bedroom apartment, including a bed, sofa, dresser, table, and a good number of boxes. Small businesses also use this size for inventory, files, and equipment.
A 10x15 adds space for a two-bedroom apartment or a small house. Think of appliances, bedroom furniture, living room pieces, and boxes, with a narrow walkway so you can reach items at the back.
A 10x20 is roughly the size of a one-car garage and fits the contents of a two- or three-bedroom home. It works for larger moves, major renovations, and bulky items like tools, workshop equipment, or a project vehicle, as long as you measure the item and the door first.
If your needs sit near the top of a size, step up so you can load safely and still reach what you need.
Price depends mostly on size, since a larger unit costs more than a smaller one. Features also play a role, including whether the unit is indoors or drive-up, which floor it is on, and whether it offers extras like climate control. Rates can also vary with availability and the length of your commitment.
Because rates change, check the current prices before you decide instead of relying on a number from an old listing. You can compare options and learn more on the affordable storage units in Kokomo page.
Start with a simple inventory. List your largest items first, then estimate boxes, and choose the smallest unit that holds everything with a little room to spare. Renting a unit that is too small leads to a second rental later, while one that is too large means paying for empty space every month.
Declutter before you pack, since donating or selling items you no longer need can drop you into a smaller size. Pack boxes of similar size, use the full height of the unit, and stand mattresses and large pieces on end. Before you sign, ask about the lease terms, any move-in fees, lock requirements, and how rate changes are handled.
